Nearly twenty-five thousand homes in Queensland's southeast found themselves lacking electricity on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms impacted the region, producing wind gusts reaching 109km/h.
Large Ice Stones and Extensive Destruction
Residents reported giant hailstones reaching sizes of seven centimeters in certain regions. Meteorological experts confirmed that different parts across Queensland had been affected by substantial ice precipitation.

Utility workers were working to restore power throughout the damaged zones, with nearly 70 crews working to manage the numerous electricity disruptions.
Victoria's Weather Woes
At the same time, around one thousand energy customers in Victoria also encountered electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area saw its heaviest rainfall in a year and a half.
Emergency response teams responded to nearly 600 calls for help across the region, mostly for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

At the height on yesterday, over 28k electricity consumers in Victoria were without power.
Climate Outlook
Moist weather were predicted to continue along much of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a atmospheric system continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.
The following day was forecast to be the wettest day, with persistent severe weather risk predicted across multiple regions of both states.

Medical authorities cautioned that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the countryside regions, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
